By Road
No matter you travel by Bus or car this road trip will make discover many new places and let you feel the change in vibe. From Delhi, there are two routes that can be taken for traveling to Dharamshala. Firstly, You can start your trip from Delhi to Dharamshala via NH 44 or NH 503. This route will make you cover around 480 km. This trip will take around 9 to 10 hours with regular traffic.
The second route is via Pathankot which will cover around 575 km taking approx 11 hrs. This route will make you avoid the hilly areas.
By Train
There are more than 25 trains are available from Delhi to Dharamshala on alternate days and also on weekly basis. It will take a minimum of 7 hours to a maximum of 13 hours, depending on the train routes and timing.
The following trains are running from Delhi to Dharamshala.
The earliest and minimum time is taken by the Jammu Rajdhani train which departs from New Delhi Railway Station till the Pathankot Cantonment, which is the nearest railway station to Dharamshala. After reaching Pathankot Cantonment you need to travel 87 kilometers by road to reach Dharamshala. There are more trains like CNB UHP SPL, Malwa Express, Hapa SVDK Express, Jammu Mail, Uttar S Kranti, Swaraj Express and JAM SVDK EXP, etc, from Delhi.

By air
The nearest airport from Dharamshala is Gaggal Airport in Kangra which is just 13km away from Dharamshala. The air trip from Delhi to Dharamshala starts from Indira Gandhi Airport and ends at Gaggal Airport. It will hardly take 2 hours to reach Delhi to Dharamshala by flight. After reaching the Gaggal Airport you need to take a cab or taxi to Dharamshala. If you want to save your time then you can prefer traveling by flight.
