So, you recently Graduated from law college! Planning to start your practice in Delhi Courts? Well, wait! Before starting your career you need to apply for your BAR LICENCE. Now you must be wondering and most probably planning to write in the comment section that it is not compulsory to get registered, one can start his/her without a license also!
Bar Council Registration becomes compulsory if you want to practice before the courts. Before fighting a case an advocate needs to give his consent by signing the “Vakalatnama” wherein one needs to mention his enrollment number which is given only after registering the bar! Without it, the advocate can neither represent any other party in the court of any country nor can he be designated as an advocate.
The other benefits of getting yourself registered are:
- You can get access to welfare schemes that the Bar Council of India has like medical benefits, life insurance cover, etc.
- By showing your ID card of Bar Council, you can also get some discounts in certain restaurants/cafes.
- Now you can officially stick the advocate’s stickers on your 4-wheelers or 2-wheelers!
